Washed Out is the stage name of the American musician Ernest Greene (born October 3, 1982 in Perry , Georgia ). His music draws on influences from the genres low fidelity , chillwave , synth pop , dream pop and electronica .

Life

Ernest Greene was born on October 3, 1982 in Perry, Georgia. He first worked with the band Bedroom . He separated from the band because they pursued a more dance music oriented sound and he preferred calmer chillwave sounds. In June 2009 he moved back to his hometown of Perry, Georgia and started writing his own songs. For this he used his bedroom as a music studio. Greene won a number of awards from influential music bloggers after hearing about him and his songs on MySpace .

His first two EPs, Life of Leisure and High Times , were released in August and September 2009. The former was limited to 300 pieces. He made his stage debut as Washed Out at the Santos Party House in New York City . This was his second live show, but his first as a Washed Out. Greene sells his songs on CD , vinyl and MP3 .

The chillwave song Feel it all Around is the theme song of the comedy series Portlandia .
