The Parz moated castle is located in the village of Parz in the Upper Austrian city of Grieskirchen . Immediately next to the moated castle is the much larger Landschloss Parz .

history

The previous building was a moated castle, the date of construction is unknown. It was mentioned in a document in 1220 with Wernhart the Lehrbühler. From the Lehrbühlern (Lehrböllern) it came to the Jörger (von Tollet) in 1393 , to the Oberhaimer in 1400 , and then to the Pirching family . In 1514 the rule Parz and thus also the moated castle came into the possession of Sigmund Ludwig von Pollheim . He built the new large country palace right next to it.

The building was largely rebuilt around 1800, and only remnants of the former moated castle remain. From then on, the country palace served as an apartment for officials.

Because of the desolate state of construction, it was empty between 1946 and 1963. Then it was rented by the artist group around Hans Hoffmann-Ybbs , who expanded it into an artist center, which was operated until 1998.

The moated castle is owned by Georg Spiegelfeld-Schneeburg , who rented it to the operators of the Castelvecchio restaurant and the gallery owners Jacinta M. Mössenböck and Laurenz Pöttinger . In spring 2010 he offered the system for sale for 3.2 million euros.
