To escape an oppressive everyday life, Anna visits her former school friend Jacky in Los Angeles . You're in your early 20s, best friends at school, but haven't seen each other for five years. Both despise their hometown of Tucson , Arizona, but only the extroverted Jacky made the jump. The reticent Anna, who lost her parents in a house fire as a child, never wanted to leave her grandmother, who is now seriously ill with cancer.

Anna and Jacky spend an afternoon and the following night together, talking, drinking, playing go fish , eating, swimming and moving around the houses. There are moments of great closeness, but also arguments and disappointment. They take stock of their friendship, which seems to have reached a crossroads. Anna notices that Jacky has developed further in the big city in the meantime. She is moody and decisive, luxury seems very important to her and she is ready for a lot for his sake. Anna also discovers dark sides of herself. The renewed friendship between the two turns out to be an emotional, intimate and sexually adventurous love affair. The next morning, Jacky is still sleeping, Anna receives a call from Tucson. She leaves without having spoken to Jacky again after the tiring night.
