The Watendlath is a lake in the Lake District , Cumbria , England , on the banks of the hamlet Watendlath is.
The lake is fed by various small streams from the surrounding mountain slopes, but the main tributary is the Bleatarn Gill at the northern end of the lake.
At the southern end of the lake, the Watendlath Beck is the only drain that leaves the lake.
Watendlath is at the end of a road up the mountain from Derwent Water , and the land is owned by the National Trust . The lake and a historic stone bridge in a valley with the gently sloping slopes, which are particularly typical of the Lake District, make the square a tourist destination.
The painter Dora Carrington painted a picture of Watendlath in 1921, which is now owned by the Tate Gallery .
Writer Sir Hugh Walpole made Watendlath the hometown of Judith Paris in his Herries Chronicles series .
