The Watson Twins are an American duo playing a mix of alternative country and folk .
history
The two twins Chandra and Leigh Watson were born on March 28, 1975 in Louisville , Kentucky , where they also grew up. They started singing as children, and after they both attended the University of Evansville , they moved to Silver Lake , Los Angeles , in 1998 . Hoping to start a career in the professional music business in LA, they initially sang as a background choir for the regionally popular band Slydell . The Watson Twins quickly made a name for themselves in the local music scene and performed with other bands such as Orphan Train and Rilo Kiley . During this time, she wrote her first own songs as well as solo appearances under the name Black Swan .
When Jenny Lewis , singer of the band Rilo Kiley, hired the Watson Twins for their album Rabbit Fur Coat in 2006 , the twins' popularity increased enormously. For the critically acclaimed album, the duo first adopted the name "Watson Twins" for professional purposes. In 2007, due to the album's success, the EP Southern Manners was released, the Watson Twins' first solo record. It was only sold in the Los Angeles area and at concerts.
In 2008 the first album Fire Songs for Vanguard Records followed , which reached number 45 in the "Top Independent Album Charts". In February 2009 a second EP followed with live recorded acoustic versions of various tracks. The Watson Twins have toured extensively since their album was released, performing with Billy Bragg, Juliana Hatfield, Nada Surf and others, among others.
In 2010 the second album Talking to You, Talking to Me was released .
