Jenny Lewis (born January 8, 1976 in Las Vegas , Nevada ) is an American actress and singer from Los Angeles .

Life

In her childhood she worked as an actress in various commercials and films such as Joy Stick Heroes and Troop Beverly Hills . While filming, she also met Blake Sennett , with whom she founded the band Rilo Kiley , which is now very popular in the US indie scene . She is also known for her participation as a guest singer in various other bands, e.g. B. The Postal Service and many bands from around the Saddle Creek label.

In January 2006 she released her first solo album Rabbit Fur Coat , on which she describes, in part very personally, her childhood experiences as an actress, her relationship to her mother and to religion. In terms of music, Jenny Lewis is based on soul and country legends on Rabbit Fur Coat , such as B. Dusty Springfield and Loretta Lynn . She is supported by the gospel singers Chandra and Leigh Watson ( The Watson Twins ).

On September 23, 2008, their second solo album, Acid Tongue, was released on Warner Bros. Records.

In October 2010 she released the album I'm Having Fun Now with her partner Jonathan Rice under the name “Jenny and Johnny” .
