Wayne Swan (born June 30, 1954 in Nambour ) is an Australian politician .

Life

After leaving school, Swan studied economics at the University of Queensland , where he received a Bachelor of Arts . He became a member of the Australian Labor Party (ALP). Swan was a Member of the Australian Parliament from 1993 to 1996 and from 1998 to 2019 . From 2007 to June 2013 he was Treasury Secretary of Australia under Prime Ministers Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard and under Gillard from June 2010 he was also Deputy Prime Minister in Australia. After Gillard was voted out of office as Prime Minister, Swan also withdrew from the government. In 2019 he no longer stood for election .

Swan is married and has three children.
