Band history

Thomas Felberg live with WE

In 1993 Krisvaag, Don Dons, Goshie and Thomas Felberg founded the band WE. After an in-house production (In a Field of Moose) , they were signed by the Norwegian label Voices of Wonder . Violently Colored Sneakers , the first album for this label, was released in 1996. After a European tour, the album Wooferwheels (1997) follows . The 1999 album Livin 'the Lore became a small independent success. The group then switched to the Black Balloon Records label .

After three singles, Dinosauric Futurobic (2002) was released three years later . The band toured as the opening act for Queens of the Stone Age and released the EP Lightyears (2003) a year later . In December of the same year, the group was able to win over producer Chris Goss ( Kyuss , Queens of the Stone Age ), whom they had already met in 1997 and with whom they had been planning a colloquium for years. Musicians friends from Turbonegro and Gluecifer contributed their part to the album Smugglers (2004) as guest musicians . The album reached number 1 in the Norwegian charts. The following tour took place in support of Motörhead together with Meldrum . In 2008 a recording of the tour on the album Tension & Releases will be released as a bonus DVD. In 2006 the group played at the Wacken Open Air .

Music genre

According to its own statements, WE plays a musical mix of hard rock groups like Black Sabbath , Led Zeppelin and Van Halen , Krautrock bands like Can , Neu! and Amon Düül 2 and 1960s bands like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones . On their MySpace page they summarize their style accordingly as cosmic biker rock . Laut.de describes the group as a mixture of 1980s "hard rock - including tasteless background vocals, metallic scraps and pop-like sprinkles as well as a dash of alternative ".
