Charles David "Chuck" Liddell (born December 17, 1969 in Santa Barbara, California , USA) is an American mixed martial arts fighter .

Career

Chuck Liddell made his MMA debut on May 15, 1998 at the Ultimate Fighting Championship UFC 17 event . After victories among others over Guy Mezger and fights at organizers such as the International Fighting Championship and Pride FC , he fought on June 6, 2003 at UFC 43 against Randy Couture for the title of Light Heavyweight Champion . He lost, but after victories over Alistair Overeem , Tito Ortiz , Vernon White and a loss to Quinton Jackson, he again competed in a title fight against Couture. This time, on April 16, 2005 at UFC 52 , he was successful. As a result, he was able to defend his title against Jeremy Horn , Couture, Renato Sobral and Ortiz before he had to cede it to Quinton Jackson at UFC 71 on May 26, 2007. He then lost to Keith Jardine , Rashad Evans and Mauricio Rua and won against Wanderlei Silva . On June 12, 2010, after losing the main UFC 115 match against Rich Franklin , UFC chief Dana White stated that Liddell would no longer compete for the UFC. This meant the end of his active MMA career. His competition statistics are 21 wins and eight losses.

Chuck Liddell was the coach in seasons one and eleven of the reality TV series The Ultimate Fighter . He was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame . Liddell has appeared in film and television since 2001. He had a guest appearance in the second season of the series Blue Mountain State , as well as in the 9th season, episode 5 of Bones - The Bone Hunter . In 2019 he was in Acceleration - Against Time .
