Randy Couture
Randy Duane Couture (born June 22, 1963 in Lynnwood , Washington ) is an American martial artist and actor . He is the founder of the MMA training organization Xtreme Couture Mixed Martial Arts and fought 30 fights in the UFC from 1997 to 2011 . His nicknames are The Natural and Captain America .
Martial arts career
Wrestling
Randy Couture started at the junior high school with rings and won during his time at the High School , the Washington State Championship . Upon graduation, he joined the United States Armed Forces , where he served six years. A large part of his service time he worked as a wrestler, for a short time also as a boxer .
After leaving the army, he enrolled at Oklahoma State University , where he continued wrestling. During that time, he became a triple NCAA Division I All-American in the 190-pound weight class of the college championships . In the Greco-Roman style , he took first place in the seniors three times in the American championships. He was also a substitute wrestler for the US Olympic team on several occasions.
Mixed martial arts
He made his debut in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in May 1997 and won his first UFC heavyweight title in December. His next title came in 2000 in a fight against Kevin Randleman . After two defeats in 2002, he moved to the light heavyweight class. After further titles he was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2006. After losing to Lyoto Machida on April 30, 2011, Couture retired at the age of 47. His professional martial arts career included 19 wins, seven by knockout and four by submission, and eleven losses.
Couture also coached the first season of the reality TV series The Ultimate Fighter .

actor
As an actor, he had various supporting and leading roles in television series and movies, including Born 2 Die (2003), Today You Die (2005), King of Queens (2006), Big Stan (2007), The Scorpion King 2: Rise One Warrior (2008), Redbelt (2008), The Expendables (2010) and its sequels The Expendables 2 (2012) and The Expendables 3 (2014). Another role was that of secret agent Paul Ross in Hijacked (2012). In the film The Hard Way (2019) he played a corrupt federal agent.
