Weathertunes is a music project by the brothers Roland and Daniel Voss. The music style of the group moves between lounge , ambient , downbeat , trip-hop , nu-jazz and drum and bass .
history
Weathertunes is Roland and Daniel Voss' first joint project. They founded it in the summer of 1998 in Wetter (Ruhr) to implement their shared passion for electronic music in combination with acoustic sound elements. Daniel Voss received piano and guitar lessons during his childhood and youth. Roland Voss used to be a drummer and played different styles from jazz and jazz rock to soul and funk.
In autumn 2001 her debut album Characters was released on the Frankfurt label Peacelounge Recordings , which received good reviews. Several posts have been taken from respected compilations such as Lifestyle 3 or Comfort Zone 5 . Also in Japan, where the album was distributed by the Japanese label Receptortune , it caused a sensation and great press coverage after its release in 2002.
In 2003 the Weathertunes released their second longplayer, The Birds & the Sky , which was again well received by the critics. In 2004 the album was also released on the Japanese market. On this album, the group expanded their tonal and stylistic range with downtempo grooves and enriched the electro-acoustic elements of their music with chill-house sounds. The two follow-up albums Summer and Beam Me in came out on the Jubilee Records / Music Mail label . Receptortune took over the distribution in Japan again. Summer described the critics as a successful crossover album.
In 2005 Roland Voss and his brother Daniel founded the Lemongrassmusic label in order to be able to produce and market their music projects themselves. Her first release of the Weathertunes on her own label was the EP Sunsurfer in 2008 , which also received attention abroad. The album Palm Beach followed in 2009 and received good reviews internationally. The successor work Passions , released in 2011, was her sixth album in eleven years.

The Voss brothers were supported on all albums by jazz guitarist Michael Arlt . Guitarist Philipp Vollertsen was also involved in the first two Weathertunes albums. Singers have also played on the later albums: Kay Dee The Bee from France on the album Palm Beach , WAWA from Japan (Tokyo) on the album Passions and Suzy Duffy from Scotland on Passions .
