Michael Arlt (guitarist)

Michael Arlt (born July 1, 1960 in Bünde ) is a German modern jazz guitarist .

Career

Arlt graduated from Berklee College of Music in 1984 to continue his studies at the Amsterdam Conservatory from 1985 to 1989 . Since 1986 he has worked on tours and festivals with Roman Schwaller , Leszek Zadlo , Jerry Granelli , Sigi Busch , and later with Paquito D'Rivera , Herbert Joos and Luciano Biondini . He founded his own trio and the group Brassless (CD of the same name). With Don Kostelnik and Duck Scott he forms the organ trio We Three , which has released several albums. Arlt has also made recordings for Houston Person and Matthias Bätzel's Grooveyard with Red Holloway . Since the late 1990s, Arlt has been involved in the Lemongrass and Weathertunes music projects , which were founded by the brothers Roland and Daniel Voss. Arlt also appears in various formations with Rick Hollander , in the trio of Reinette van Zijtveld and in a duo with Christian Eckert.

Since 1990 Arlt has been a lecturer for jazz guitar and harmony at the University of Music in Würzburg .
