Lemongrass is a music project by Roland Voss. Under this name he has been producing and publishing pieces of music between lounge , ambient , downbeat , trip-hop , nu-jazz and drum and bass since 1996 .

history

1997 was on the compilation Submerged on the Nuremberg label Incoming! the first track released by Lemongrass: Summertime was a drum and bass cover version with vocals. In 1998 Lemongrass' first longplayer followed with Drumatic Universe , which received a lot of attention and good criticism. In the spring of 1999 Lemongrass switched to the Mannheim label Mole Listening Pearls and released the album Lumière Obscure there . The subsequent album Voyage au center de la terre , which was released in 2000, represented a further development of the Lemongrass musical style. In February 2001 Roland Voss brought out the next Lemongrass production with Windows . In 2002, Solar Incense, an album exclusively for the Japanese market, was produced. The long player Skydiver was released in 2003 in Europe and Japan. In contrast to previous productions, Skydiver is characterized by slow hip-hop beats.

In October 2004, Lemongrass' sixth album Fleur Solaire followed . Again, there was a version for the Japanese market. In addition to the well-known drum and bass, trip-hop, downbeat and lounge sound, Fleur Solaire also contained some house elements. Lemongrass' first compilation was released in 2005: The double album Time Tunnel is a retrospective of previous work and provides a chronological order on both CDs with "Backward" from 2003 back to 1998 and "Forward" from 1997 back into 1998 Year 2003. Remixes, alternative versions, but also unknown and previously unreleased pieces are represented on the album.

In 2005 Roland Voss and his brother Daniel founded the Lemongrassmusic label in order to be able to produce and market their music projects themselves. In the same year Roland Voss brought out the album Ikebana with Lemongrass . This was followed in 2007 by Filmothèque and especially for the Japanese market Rendez-vous . In 2008 Pour L'amour and the compilation Beach Affairs were released , which offers another extensive retrospective of Lemongrass with the highlights from the later albums. In 2009 and 2010 Lemongrass released the albums Hypnosis and The 5th Dimension . Roland Voss also produced the remix albums The Remix Sessions and Jockey Club Ibiza - Sessions 7 . In 2011 the album Sirius was released . In 2012 Lemongrass produced two albums in one year with Papillon and Gloriette . The album A Dream Within A Dream followed in 2013 .
