Mole Listening Pearls is a German record label based in Berlin . From 1996 to 2003 it initially belonged to UCMG from Neckargemünd and from 2004 to October 2017 to Daredo from Mannheim . in November 2017 the label was taken over by the company UCM.ONE (Berlin). The name Mole comes from the book Neuromancer and describes a type of computer virus. The label has been releasing artists from the field of electronic music such as Alphawezen , Barbara Lahr , Bassface Sascha , De-Phazz , Lemongrass , moodorama , Märtini Brös and Yonderboi since 1996 .

Label history

The founder of "Mole" was Haluk Soyoglu. He was responsible for the naming and the label concept. He also created the first compilation series such as "Living Some Dreams" and "Breaking the Ice" (based on ideas from the Cyberpunk trilogy by William Gibson (including "Neuromancer"), from which the label's name is based) . It was also Haluk Soyoglu who signed various band projects, such as: B. De-Phazz.

The first records were compilations . On Science Fiction Jazz Vol. 1 , compiled by the Zurich DJ Minus 8 , artists such as Nightmares on Wax , LTJ Bukem and Lamb were represented, on Breaking the Ice Kruder & Dorfmeister and Red Snapper, among others . From 1997 individual bands were also signed. Successful debut albums were, for example, Detunized Gravity (1997) by De-Phazz and Shallow and Profound (2000) by Yonderboi, of which more than 30,000 copies were sold. Compilations are still published. On the one hand, these serve to give an overview of the work of the artists on the label, and on the other hand, there are series with programmatic requirements for certain musical styles. So contains Batacuda , published by the between 2000 and 2007 three episodes, African-influenced percussive tracks while Science Fiction Jazz , with 12 episodes from 1996 to 2011 most extensive range of labels, "elementary contributions to the evolution of NuJazz working". By May 2019, a total of 121 albums by 49 bands had been released.
