Webber Island

Webber Island is an island off the Saunders coast of Marie Byrd Land in West Antarctica . It is the large central island in the ice-covered group of the White Islands at the head of Sulzberger Bay .

The United States Geological Survey mapped them using the United States Navy's own surveys and aerial photographs from 1959 to 1965. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them in 1970 after James Webber, ionospheric physicist of the United States Antarctic Program at Byrd Station from 1968 until 1969.
