The Weddell Lake is a lake on the Ingrid Christensen Coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth country . In the Vestfold Mountains , it extends south of the Weddell Arm on the Breidnes Peninsula .
It is one of the lakes that biologists working at Davis Station examined as part of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions in 1974. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named it in 1975 based on the naming of the neighboring Weddell Arm. Its namesake are Weddell seals , which populate the banks of this fjord .
