Reverend Lovejoy announces that the Parson, the "supreme clergyman" of the "Presbytery", will visit the city. This is received enthusiastically by the Springfielders.

The Parson informs Lovejoy that he was not an official priest for some time due to an error in the debiting of the entry fee for the license extension and that all his official acts during this time were therefore invalid. Lovejoy then informs all those affected. This also includes the Simpson couple, whose second wedding (told in the episode Divorce Who Can , Episode 6 in Season 8) also took place in the same period. That means Homer and Marge have not officially been married since then.

In order to remedy this situation as quickly as possible, Homer and Marge go to the registry office. Since Marge is not enthusiastic about the not very romantic process, they decide on an elegant and stylish dream wedding. Marge behaves extremely imperiously during the wedding preparations (Homer calls her "bride's villa"), so that Homer soon loses the joy of it.

On the wedding day it happens that Homer does not show up for the wedding. Marge assumes that he deliberately left her at the altar. In fact, he was kidnapped and locked in a cellar dungeon. Bart and Lisa try to find out the reason for Homer's disappearance. They find a key ring with the initials SB and assume that Tingeltangel-Bob (English: S ideshow B ob) kidnapped Homer.

Meanwhile, Homer is tortured in his prison, for example by having to eat a permanent lollipop from Tabasco . Lisa and Bart track down Tingeltangel-Bob, who has an alibi. In fact, Patty and Selma ( S elma B ouvier) are responsible for the kidnapping that finally wants to separate him and Marge. Homer reads his prepared wedding speech to his kidnappers, which even moves his sisters-in-law. You release him.

Bart and Lisa confront Patty and Selma anyway and force them to finance the planned dream wedding for Homer and Marge. After the two have remarried at the registry office, they are surprised at the wedding reception they have prepared.
