The wayside chapel in Burkardroth , a Lower Franconian market in the Bavarian district of Bad Kissingen , located on the street rigor door in the hallway large fields on the outskirts direction Stangenroth (today part of Burkardroth).

The chapel and the corresponding crucifix and the corresponding cross-roofed shrine belong to the architectural monuments of Burkardroth and are registered under the number D-6-72-117-6 in the Bavarian list of monuments .

History and description

chapel

The chapel made of rubble and mortar was built in 1733. It is equipped with a ridge roof; There is an iron grille in front of the chancel. In 1940 and 1970 the chapel was renovated. The chapel is owned by the Burkardroth market.

There is a plastic Pietà in the chancel. It is a replica of a baroque Pietà made of wood; this fell victim to an art theft in 1967.

crucifix

The crucifix belonging to the complex, made of sandstone and totaling 3.55 meters high, dates from 1817. The 105 cm high cross is located on the prismatic base. The base bears the inscription "Es / is done / Has engaged / Mangoltus Volt / Wollbach 1817". The crucifix is ​​owned by the Burkardroth market.

Cross roof shrine

The criss-cross roof shrine originally belonging to the complex was built in 1680; his whereabouts today are unknown. He bore the inscription "MIchael / Medz from / Stangenroth / Sdiefder / this image / But / 1680".

The cross-roofed shrine that belongs to the complex today and is made of sandstone dates from 1688 according to its name. It is a cross-roofed house made of sandstone over an ornamented pedestal. The pictorial niche of the wayside shrine houses a modern relief, a relief cross and an inscription. The cross roof shrine is owned by the Burkardroth market.
