The signpost at the forester's house Auerberg is a listed signpost in the district of Auerberg in the municipality of Südharz in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

It is opposite the Auerberg forest house, right at the confluence of the L 235 and L 236. West of the signpost is a parking lot and the hiking trail to the summit of the Großer Auerberg and the Josephskreuz begins .

Architecture and history

The signpost was probably created in connection with the construction of the Joseph Cross in 1896. It was created on a base decorated with volutes in the form of an elaborately designed cast iron candelabra . The essay is presented in the form of a vase.

The actual signposts are attached to the vase. To the northwest there is a sign with the inscription Stolberg 7.3 km. To the southeast, Schwenda is shown 4.2 km . Originally, a third arm pointed to the east, to today's L 235, probably to Neudorf . However, only one fragment of this arm has been preserved.

In the local register of monuments , the signpost has been listed as a small monument under registration number 094 83935 since August 29, 1996 . The sign is considered to be significant in terms of traffic history and a rare testimony to iron art casting from the end of the 19th century.
