Remains of the weir system in Hobbersorf

The weir system in Hobbersdorf is the remainder of a fortified farm yard in the middle of the village of Hobbersdorf in the municipality of Ratekau in the Ostholstein district in Schleswig-Holstein south of the Schwartau river .

According to a document, the farmyard was founded in 1238, was owned by the von Buchwald family and, after several changes of ownership in the 16th century, became the property of the Lübeck cathedral chapter. In 1756 it was given up.

The remains of the castle hill can be seen, which has a rectangular fortification with rounded corners with a side length of approx. 55 m and a height of approx. 3 m. The facility is surrounded by a former ditch 12 to 15 m wide.

The area of the castle hill is now garden land and is used as an orchard and cattle pasture. Ponds have formed in the old ditch - a large pond surrounding the north and west of the facility and two other smaller ponds in the south-east and south of the facility.

The plant stands as ground monument under monument protection .
