Fortified church (Neumorschen)
The fortified church , also called Jakobikirche , is a Protestant church in Neumorschen and belongs to the Schwalm-Eder parish of the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck . The fortified church , which stands on a late Romanesque choir tower , dates from the 15th century.
history
During the construction, the church received a fortified cemetery with a circular wall and loopholes .
After many centuries of church use, a thorough renovation took place in 2014 , both outside and inside. The pulpit , which dates back to the Reformation , was given its original colors back during this work. The organ with its gilded carvings from 1730 has also been restored . On the south wall, the experts commissioned with the renovation discovered wall paintings from the 14th and 18th centuries under several layers of paint and partially exposed them.
As a new element, the Munich lighting designer Wolfgang Engelhardt created a light installation.
