features

The birds, which are half a meter long, are gray on top, and their belly is white. They wear a feather hood on their head, which is put up in excitement. The wing tips are black, the tail gray and long.

White-bellied diners are sociable and feed primarily on berries and other fruits. When foraging for food, they skilfully slip through dense thorn bushes. The little shy animals are often seen in East African national parks near the lodges. The bird's warning call, a bleating "gaarr, warrr", gave it its common name, Go-away-bird.
