The pond Friedrichsfelde Nord (also called Reichsbahnteich ) is a body of water , a former area natural monument and is now a protected spawning biotope in the Marzahn district of the Berlin district of Marzahn-Hellersdorf . The water has an area of 450 m² and the total biotope of 1000 m². It can be reached via the entrance from Rhinstrasse .
history
The Friedrichsfelde Nord pond originally emerged from an explosion crater and was expanded into a fish pond . In 1973 the use as a fish pond was completely abandoned and in the following years the pond was filled with debris. In 1981 bulky waste was cleared . A year later the pond was desludged and a year later it was placed under protection. After that, rubble and rubbish is regularly cleared. In 1993, 700 cubic meters of fresh water was introduced to improve the water quality. At the end of the 1990s, the trench system of the allotment garden was excavated.
Flora and fauna
In the area of the pond there are wooded areas consisting of willow, beech , rose hip , hazelnut and blackberry . In the southern area there is a meadow and there is a beehive for bees . The body of water is a very valuable habitat habitat for the following fauna: crested newt , smooth newt , common toad , spadefoot , frog and green frog . To protect the valuable habitat, the entire area around the pond is fenced.
