Weiler is a part of the municipality of Osterberg in the Swabian district of Neu-Ulm .
location
The village is located about 3.5 km southwest of Osterberg on the district road NU 7 , which joins the state road St 2017 near the place . From 1894 to 1964, Weiler was connected to the railway network through the station located southeast of the village on the Kellmünz – Babenhausen railway line. Since 2009 there has been a pedestrian and cycle path on the embankment of the disused and dismantled railway line.
history
Weiler was first mentioned in 1455 as the property of the Lords of Rechberg-Hohenrechberg on Kellmünz . In 1679 the Lords of Rechberg sold the Osterberg estate to Johann Michael Meyer von Röfingen on Bühl. In the course of the upheavals at the beginning of the 19th century, like the entire Osterberg rule, it came under Bavaria . Until 1978, Weiler was an independent municipality. Since May 1, 1978 it has belonged to the Osterberg community.
The St. Johannes Baptista chapel, which was built in 1674 on the site of a previous chapel and enlarged in 1698, was followed by a pilgrimage.
