Architecture and history
The small two-storey half-timbered house was registered as a residential building in the Quedlinburg monument register. It was created in the Baroque around 1700 and has changed little. The threshold of the house was designed in the style of the construction period.
On April 13, 2011 around 11 p.m., a fire broke out in the empty neighboring building at Marschlinger Hof 7 for reasons that remained unknown. The fire spread to the Weingarten 17 house and the adjacent Weingarten 16 house on the eastern side, which was also built in half-timbered construction. These houses too had been vacant for many years. Fire brigades from eight locations with more than 100 firefighters were deployed. Nevertheless, the roof trusses of the three houses burned down, the upper floors were partially destroyed. The technical relief organization secured the damaged buildings. All three affected buildings were demolished in November and December 2012. The Self Help Quedlinburg built on the site of an assisted living facility, which also contains preserved and renovated house Marschlinger Hof 6 was included. The inauguration of the house took place in November 2016.
