The Dr. F. Weins-Prüm is a family business in Bernkastel-Wehlen on the Moselle .

history

The winery emerged in 1911 from the division of Mathias Prüm's business to his seven children (in addition to today's businesses such as Dr. Loosen, JJ Prüm , SA Prüm). The youngest daughter, Anna Maria Prüm, later married Franz Weins, which is how the company got its current name. The winery is currently run by his grandson Bert Selbach.

The company is a founding member of the Association of German Predicate and Quality Wineries (VDP).

Locations

The four-hectare winery has, among other things, steep and steep slopes in the Wehlener Sonnenuhr , Graacher Himmelreich and Domprobst as well as the Ürziger Würzgarten. A special feature are the parcels in the original part of the Erdener Prelate site . The vineyards are 100% planted with Riesling .

Wine guides describe Bert Selbach's wines as classic Moselle Rieslings with a strong character. Bert Selbach's range covers all quality levels from quality wine to ice wine. The focus is on residual sweet wines. Today the company is very popular, especially in the USA. For over 25 years, Dr. F. Weins-Prüm is consistently listed as one of the 100 best wineries in Germany by Handelsblatt and Vinum .

In wine guides such as Gault-Millau , Eichelmann and Feinschmecker , the Dr. F. Weins-Prüm always has ratings of over 3 stars. In the USA, the wines are regularly rated with over 90 points by the Wine Spectator . The company also has good reviews from Robert Parker . In 2004, Dr. F. Weins-Prüm by André Dominé in his book "Wine" classified with 4 to 5 stars as one of ten top goods.
