Johann Arnold winery

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Johann Arnold winery in Iphofen was founded in 1959 by Johann Arnold. This comes from a long-established Iphöfer winemaking family.

history

In the past, the grapes were delivered to the winegrowers' cooperative , in 1959 Arnold began to develop himself. At that time, the winery owned 1.5 hectares of vineyards and 700 m² of courtyard. The vineyard area was continuously increased to 6.6 hectares (2011). The winery owns vineyards in the Iphöfer locations Julius-Echter-Berg, Kronsberg and Kalb as well as in Rödelsee am Küchenmeister. In the Frohntal of the Julius-Echter-Berg, the large plant is made from the Silvaner grape variety . In addition to the Silvaner, wines from the grape varieties Riesling , Scheurebe , Müller-Thurgau , Bacchus , Pinot Blanc , Domina , Pinot Noir and Dornfelder are offered.

As there was not enough space for wine-growing , storage and marketing, Arnold bought the former Zum Lamm inn in 1974 and expanded it into today's winery . Gradually the courtyard area was expanded to almost 2000 m². There the complete wine development is integrated with three vaulted cellars and a newly built cellar, two machine halls, press hall, bottling room, packing room and a guest house.

In 2000 Arnold's son Johannes took over the business. He is a master winemaker, cellar master and viticulture technician. He also teaches Franconian winemakers and wine makers at the Ochsenfurt vocational school .

The winery has been a member of the Association of German Prädikatsweingüter since 1985 . The winery is recommended in the Gault Millau Wine Guide and the Eichelmann Wine Guide.
