The Juris winery in Gols is an Austrian winery in the Neusiedlersee wine-growing region in Burgenland .

history

In historical sources, the Stiegelmar family is proven to be viniculture in Gols as early as 1571. Georg Stiegelmar is one of the pioneers of quality winemaking in Burgenland: as early as 1983, he was one of the first Austrian winemakers to begin developing red wines in barriques . The name "Juris" was introduced later to distinguish it from Gols winemakers of the same name. The winery has been run by Axel and Herta Stiegelmar since 1995.

The winery is a member of the Renowned Wineries Burgenland (RWB) and three-time winner of the Falstaff Red Wine Prize. Stiegelmar was "Winemaker of the Year 1995" at the International Wine and Spirit Competition .

The winery

The vineyard area is 25 hectares (as of 2011), 80 percent of which are planted with red grape varieties, mainly St. Laurent and Pinot Noir . The winery produces an extensive range of around 20 wines. When it comes to white grape varieties, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc are important. The varieties Welschriesling , Gelber Muskateller , Bouvier and Grüner Veltliner are also cultivated. The best vineyards are located on the edge of the Parndorfer Platte with the locations "Altenberg", "Eisgrübel" and "Edelgrund". The best-known wines are the Cuvées Ina'mera ( Blaufränkisch , Cabernet Sauvignon , Merlot ) and St. Georg (St. Laurent and Pinot Noir) as well as the reserves of St. Laurent and Pinot Noir. Around 100,000 bottles of wine are produced annually.
