Margrave of Baden winery

The winery Markgraf von Baden presses its wines in the wine cellar of the former Reichsabtei Salem , today Salem Castle , and in the Staufenberg Castle in Durbach . It belongs to the Association of German Predicate and Quality Wineries .

Staufenberg Castle Winery

The winery for Lake Constance wines and the headquarters of the Markgraf von Baden winery are located in Salem Castle. There the wines from Lake Constance and the Upper Rhine are pressed, stored and sold. In Schloss Staufenberg's winery for wines is Durbach in Ortenau ( Location ). Access to the winery and sales in Salem is possible from the L200a through the archway to the north side in the courtyard of the palace.

Cultivation area, vineyards and grape varieties

The winery cultivates 100 hectares on Lake Constance and 25 hectares in Ortenau. The major locations in the VDP classification are: Durbacher Schlossberg, Bermatinger Leopoldsberg, Gailinger Schloss Rheinburg and Meersburger Chorherrnhalde. The wines are grown in Durbach , Birnau Gailingen , Meersburg , Kirchberg Castle near Immenstaad and Bermatingen . As vine Riesling (54%) (4%), the Burgundersorten Pinot , Gris , Pinot Noir , and Müller-Thurgau (21%), Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc grown. The Riesling grown in Durbach is called Klingelberger .

Excursus: Margravial Badisches Weinhaus

The Margravial Badische Weinhaus opened on September 1st, 2017. It is a sales and marketing cooperation in the form of a joint venture with Rotkäppchen-Mumm Sektkellereien GmbH . The Margravial Badisches Weinhaus sells wines from the Baden region and not VdP wines.
