The wine house in Alsfeld , a town in the Vogelsberg district in Hesse , was built in 1538/39. The building at Markt 3 is a protected architectural monument .

description

The building was built in 1538/39 according to the plans of the builder Hans von Frankfurt and shows transitional forms from Gothic to Renaissance . It served the city's wine bar, an important source of income for the city of Alsfeld . The representative stone building has three floors. 5 to 5½ Fuder (approx. 6,000 liters) of wine were stored in the vaulted cellar of the wine house, and there was a large wine bar with a bar on the ground floor. There was probably another taproom on the upper floor reserved for special guests. The landlord and his staff lived on the upper floors.

During the renovation in 1843/44, the original appearance of the wine house was changed significantly. The Renaissance windows with the light curtain arches were bricked up and replaced by round-arched wall openings with double windows , overhanging arches and inserted columns with capitals .
