Weiprecht III. von Helmstatt (* 1392 ; † 1478 ) was a Palatine councilor and governor in the Oberamt Bretten . He came from the imperial knighthood family of the Lords of Helmstatt from a branch of the Bischofsheimer line , which his father Reinhard the Elder of Helmstatt founded.

family

Weiprecht III. was the son of Reinhard the Elder von Helmstatt († November 13, 1399) and Mia von Sickingen , the daughter of Reinhard von Sickingen. He was married to Getza von Werberg († April 14, 1465), the daughter of Henn the Younger in Bensheim . No children are known from this connection.

Life

Weiprecht III. was probably the builder later Alexander castle named Bischofsheimer castle. In 1426 he received the Steinacher Hinterburg from his uncle, Bishop Raban von Helmstatt , as a fiefdom for life , which he significantly rebuilt, and in 1442 also the Steinacher Mittelburg as a pledge . At times he also owned half of the Vorderburg there . After his death, the rear castle passed to his nephew Martin († 1490), a son of his brother Hans († 1476).

Weiprecht was from about 1426 to 1450 bailiff of the Landfautei am Bruhrain of the Hochstift Speyer and at the same time councilor at the court in Heidelberg . Around 1474 he became Vogt at the Oberamt in Bretten . He probably held this office until his death in 1478.
