The Welkhyung Monastery ( Tib. : DBal khyung dgon pa ) is a temple of Bon -Religion that up to the year 1385 back. It is located in Nyagrong ( Tib . : nyag rong , Tibetan : ཉག་ རོང ། , Chin. Xinlong 新 龙 县 ; Pinyin : Xīnlóng Xiàn), a district of the Garzê (Kardze) Tibetan Autonomous District in the Chinese province of Sichuan . It was officially opened in 1983 by the People's Government of Xinlong County (Ngyagrong), and in July 1998 it was officially registered under the Regulations for Religious Activities . The temple is located in the village of the same name (Chinese) Waqiu iu 秋 村 of the community (Chinese) Xionglongxi 雄 龙 西乡 / 雄 龍 西鄉 of Nyagrong / Xinlong, the place is 35 km away from the county seat.
Welkhyung Kanjur
The monastery is famous for its more than 140 years old Kanjur manuscript, the Welkhyung Kanjur ( Dbal khyung Bka '' gyur ) of the Bon Canon . The Ag.Yung version of the Bon Canon published by Lama A g.Yung ( g.yung drung bstan pa'i rgyal mtshan , 1922–1996) contains 40 volumes of Exoteric Buddhism and 62 volumes of Prajna Buddhism based on handwritten copies of the Kanjur discovered in this monastery are based.
