The Wellachköpfe are several mountain peaks in the Granatspitz group ( Muntanitzkamm ) in East Tyrol . The corrugated heads are located in the municipality of Matrei in East Tyrol . The main peak of the Wellachköpf is the ( 3037  m above sea level ) high south summit. With the southern pre-peak ( 3002  m above sea level ) and the two northern peaks ( 3110  m above sea level ) and ( 3117  m above sea level ) there are also three imperceptible secondary peaks . The name Wellach has Indo-European roots ( turning or rolling ) and indicates a rounded mountain.

The normal route to the Wellachköpf begins at the Sudetendeutschen Hütte . The ascent leads over moraine humps, sandy soils, old snow and debris heaps to the ridge of the Wellachköpf. The Corrugated Heads can then be hiked in easy walking terrain, only the southern summit has easy climbing terrain ( difficulty level I ). The Wellachköpfe are usually not an independent tour destination, but are climbed on the way to the Little and Big Muntanitz .
