Muntanitz comb

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Muntanitzkamm is a mountain ridge of the Granatspitz group in East Tyrol . The highest peak of the Muntanitz ridge and the Granatspitz group is the eponymous Große Muntanitz ( 3232  m above sea level ).

location

The Muntanitzkamm runs from the center of the Granatspitzgruppe to the south. In the north, the Untere Keeswinkelscharte ( 2942  m above sea level ) separates the Muntanitz ridge from the Tauern main ridge , which runs north of the Muntanitz ridge from northwest to southeast. To the northeast of the Muntanitz ridge is also the Klockenkogel ridge . In the south the Gradötzscharte ( 2826  m above sea level ) separates the Muntanitzkamm from the Gradötzkamm . To the west of the Muntanitzkamm, the Tauernbach separates the Muntanitzkamm from the Venediger group ( Gschlößkamm or Frosnitzkamm ), in the east the Seebach of the Kalser Dorfertal forms the border to the Glockner group ( Glocknerkamm ).

course

Starting from the Untere Keeswinkelscharte in the north, the northern part of the Muntanitzkamm runs first over the Keeswinkel tower ( 2980  m above sea level ) and the northern ( 2990  m above sea level ) or southern Keeswinkelkopf ( 2996  m above sea level ) to the lower Keeswinkelscharte ( 2953  m above sea level ). Then the ridge reaches the north summit of the Kalser Bärenkopf ( 3037  m above sea level ), whereby its southwest ridge runs over the Lendingscharte ( 2906  m above sea level ) to the north summit of the Schwarzkogel ( 2866  m above sea level ) and its south summit. In the main course, however, the Muntanitzkamm first reaches the main summit of the Kalser Bärenkopf ( 3079  m above sea level ) and its southern pre-summit ( 3060  m above sea level ), from which the ridge descends to the Grauen Törl ( 2891  m above sea level ). This is followed by Knaudl ( 2936  m above sea level ), Schnaggentörl ( 2836  m above sea level ) and Aderspitze ( 2990  m above sea level ), whose southeast ridge over the Kleiner Aderkopf ( 2733  m above sea level ) to Spinewitrol ( 2483  m above sea level ). The main ridge, on the other hand, branches off to the southwest to the Aderscharte ( 2828  m above sea level ), followed by the Inner ( 2945  m above sea level ) and the Outer Knappentröger ( 3031  m above sea level ). After the Knappenträgerscharte ( 2974  m above sea level ) follows the Luckenkogel ( 3100  m above sea level ), from which the northwest ridge runs over the Goldredlscharte ( 2680  m above sea level ) to the Brochetkopf ( 2662  m above sea level ). The main ridge, on the other hand, falls south to the Luckenscharte ( 2983  m above sea level ) and the Schimmescharte ( 2912  m above sea level ) and then climbs to the Grau Schimme ( 3053  m above sea level ).

The southern part of the Muntanitzkamm is much more branched than the northern part. From the Grauer Schimme the west ridge stretches over the Grauscharte ( 2950  m above sea level ) to the Graukogel ( 2985  m above sea level ) and on to the Daxerkogelscharte ( 2680  m above sea level ) to the Taxerkogel ( 2629  m above sea level ). . The southeast ridge, however, reaches the Großer Muntanitz ( 3232  m above sea level ). The southeast ridge runs from the Großer Muntanitz to the Palfenscharte ( 3150  m above sea level ) from which the Loameswand extends to the east and the Muntanitzpalfen ( 3170  m above sea level ) to the south . In addition, the Muntanitzschneid branch off from the Muntanitzpalfen and, in the further course of the ridge to the south, the Plojwand to the southeast, before the main ridge reaches the Gradötzscharte, which separates the Muntanitz- from the Gradötzkamm. The south-western ridge of the Großer Muntanitz, on the other hand, reaches the Kleiner Muntanitz ( 3192  m above sea level ) after the notch known as “Kampl” and then the Wellachköpf ( 3037  m above sea level ), from where the side ridge westwards to the Nussingscharte ( 2741  m above sea level ) m above sea level ) and to the Nussingkogel ( 2989  m above sea level ). In addition, a ridge branches off from the ridge between the Kleiner Muntanitz and the Wellachköpf to the east to the Alabalkopf ( 2981  m above sea level ) and to the Streichknorren ( 2901  m above sea level ).

glacier

There are several glaciers in the Muntanitzkamm. In the extreme north towards the Granatspitze, these are the Prägratkees to the west of the Kalser Bärenkopf and the Granatspitzkees to the east. The narrow Landeggkees also extends to the west between Kalser Bärenkopf in the north and the Aderspitze in the south. In the north of the Luckenkogel lies the Northern Loameskees, south of the Southern Loameskees, also called Luckenkees. This is followed by the Muntanitzkees to the west between the large and the small Muntanitz, and the Gradötzkees to the east to the Wellachköpf . The glacier to the west between the Kleiner Muntanitz and the Wellachköpf is known as the Bachtrögerkees.
