The small Muntanitz is a 3192  m above sea level. A. high mountain peaks of the Granatspitz group in East Tyrol .

location

The Kleine Muntanitz is located in the south of the Granatspitz group in the core zone of the Hohe Tauern National Park in the north of the municipality of Matrei in East Tyrol and the Lienz district. It is located between the Wellachköpf ( 3037  m above sea level ) in the south and the Great Muntanitz ( 3232  m above sea level ) in the north, with the Kampl ( 3129  m above sea level ) lying between the small and the large Muntanitz . The Gradötzkees extends southeast between Kleines Muntanitz, Großem Muntanitz and Muntanitzpalfen . To the northwest is the Muntanitzkees. The closest valley is the Kalser Dorfertal to the east .

Promotion opportunities

The normal route on the Kleine Muntanitz starts at the Sudetendeutschen Hütte . From the hut you first climb north over the Karl-Schöttner-Weg to the Corrugated Heads and cross three of the four Corrugated Heads. The horn-like Kleine Muntanitz can then be reached from the northernmost Wellachkopf after a short ascent. There is also a possibility of ascent from the Kalser Dorfertal over the Gradötzkees, from where you can climb the Kleiner Muntanitz in a short ascent. The first ascent of the Großer Muntanitz A. v. Schmid and Th. Groder to ascend on September 2nd, 1891 over the Gradötzkees and the Kleiner Muntanitz to the Großer Muntanitz. However, the southern ascent became unusable after the construction of the Sudeten German hut.
