location

The Knaudl is located in the northeast of East Tyrol and in the northeast of the municipality of Matrei in East Tyrol and in the southern center of the Granatspitz group. To the north of the Knaudl, separated by the Graue Törl ( 2891  m above sea level ) lies the Kalser Bärenkopf ( 3079  m above sea level ), in the south the Schnaggentörl ( 2836  m above sea level ) separates the Knaudl from the Aderspitze ( 2990  m above sea level ) o. A. ). To the east of the Knaudl, the Landeggkees stretches between Kalser Bärenkopf and Aderspitze , including the Lendig valley head and a reservoir for the Tauernmoossee ( Stubachtal power plant group ). The Landeggbach valley extends to the west of the Knaudl and the Kalser Dorfertal to the east . The closest refuge is the Kalser Tauernhaus in the south-east in the Kalser Dorfertal. In the east the Silesia Höhenweg leads past, which leads from the Kalser Tauern to the Schwarzsee.

Promotion opportunities

The little-used Knaudl can be reached easily from the Grauen Törl to the north or the Schnaggentörl to the south via the north or south ridge. The ascent to the two notches is possible from the west of the Tauern valley . Here the ascent first follows the Landeggbach to the confluence of the Seebach and then along the Seebach eastwards to the reservoir Beim See . From the Seetörl ( 2300  m above sea level ) Graues Törl and Schnaggentörl can then be reached without a path. From the east, the two notches can also be reached without a path from the Kalser Dorfertal from the Kalser Tauernhaus.
