The Kalser Bärenkopf , also Kalser Bärenkogel ( 3,079 m above sea level ) is a mountain peak of the Muntanitzkamm in the Granatspitz group in East Tyrol ( Austria ). It is located on the municipal boundary between Matrei in East Tyrol and Kals am Großglockner .
location
The Kalser Bärenkopf is located in the northern part of the Muntanitzkamm between the Upper Keeswinkelscharte ( 2942 m above sea level ) in the north and the Grauer Törl ( 2891 m above sea level ) in the south, with the Keeswinkelscharte taking the Kalser Bärenkopf from the Granatspitze ( 3086 m above sea level ) above sea level ) and the Graue Törl separates the Bärenkopf from the Knaudl ( 2936 m above sea level ). The southwest ridge of the Bärenkopf leads to the neighboring Schwarzkogel ( 2866 m above sea level ), in the east there is the valley head of the Kalser Dorfertal , to the west the Landeckkees. The Kalser Bärenkopf consists of three peaks. In addition to the main summit, there is also the north-west summit ( 3,037 m above sea level ) on the northern edge of the summit plateau , where the Prägratkees in the west and the Granatspitzkees in the east extend almost to the ridge. In the south there is also the southern pre-summit ( 3060 m above sea level ).
Promotion opportunities
The easiest way to climb the Kalser Bärenkogel leads from the Kalser Tauernhaus over the Dorfer See to just below the Kalser Tauern . Then you follow the Silesia Höhenweg in the direction of the Sudetendeutschen Hütte to the rocky step of the Bärenlochs. After the pathless ascent to the Grauer Törl, the further ascent takes place over the steep south ridge and the southern pre-summit ( UIAA II – III ) or the most difficult point to the right avoiding the south and main summit ( UIAA I – II ). Another variant consists of the ascent from the Landeckal . Here you follow the forest path from Felbertauern Straße to the Landeckalm and about two kilometers further into the valley to two creek ditches, in the middle of which you continue to climb. Later you change to the left ditch and reach a lake ( 2279 m above sea level ) via climbing tracks . The final ascent takes place over the moderately sloping south-west flank to the north-west summit , from which you can initially easily climb to the main summit, but later using ridge climbing ( UIAA II ).
In addition to the common variants, the Kalser Bärenkopf can also be conquered via the striking east face or north-east face. There are different variants that have difficulties between UIAA III- and III + .
