The Frosnitzkamm is a mountain ridge of the Venediger group in East Tyrol ( Tyrol ). The highest peak of the Frosnitzkamm is the Mittereggspitze ( 3,044  m above sea level ). The Frosnitzkamm owes its name to the Frosnitz valley to the north .

location

The Frosnitzkamm extends in the southeast of the so-called Venedigerstock. It is bounded in the north by the Frosnitz valley or the Frosnitzbach , in the east by the Iseltal or the Tauernbach and in the south by the Virgental or the Isel . In the west the Galtenscharte forms the border to the Eichhamstock . The Frosnitzkamm also forms the eastern part of the Virger Nordkette . The peaks of the Frosnitzkamm line up almost exclusively on a line from west to east, with the border between the communities of Virgen in the south and Matrei in East Tyrol in the north running along the peaks . The only glacier of the Frosnitzkamm is the Fritschnitzkees between the northern and southern Göriacher Röte. Large parts of the Frosnitzkamm, especially the summit regions, are located in the Hohe Tauern National Park .

Waters

Parts of the source streams of the Kleiner Nill as well as the Firschnitzbach , the Mellitzbach and the Mitteldorfer Bach with the Zedlabach arise on the south side . The Hinteregger Bachle, the Stallerbach and the Weißenbächle have their origins on the east side of the Frosnitzkamm. On the north side, only short, steep mountain streams such as the Fritschnitzgraben flow into the Frosnitzbach.
