Virger Nordkette
The eastern ridge of the Hohen Eichhams is known as the Virger Nordkette . The Virger Nordkette got its name from its location as the northern border of the Virgen Valley or the municipality of Virgen . It is part of the Venediger group in the Eastern Alps . The eastern part of the Virger Nordkette is also called the Frosnitzkamm .
geology
Geologically, the Virger Nordkette belongs to the upper slate shell that lay over the gneiss core during the formation of the Alps . The upper Schieferhülle is lime mica and lime phyllite formed that are recognizable by pale yellow and lead-gray color. These rocks are recognizable as characteristic plates (boards) in the Virger Bretterwand. Due to the favorable hillside location in the south of the Nordkette, fertile soils formed that are used for alpine farming. Under the upper slate shell, the lower slate shell, which consists of flat-structured green rocks ( prasinites ) , connects .
course
The Virger Nordkette runs from the Virger Bretterwand in the east to the Hohen Eichham ( 3371 m ) in the west. The mountain peaks of the Virger Nordkette include the Ochsenbug and Kristallkopf ( 3007 m ), Bretterspitze ( 3001 m ), Mittereggspitze ( 3044 m ), Galtenkogel ( 2986 m ), Raukopf ( 3070 m ) and Säulkopf ( 3209 m ).
