The Bretterspitze , also Misenokt or Hinterer Misenok ( 3001  m above sea level ) is a mountain peak of the Frosnitzkamm or the Virger Nordkette in the Venediger group in East Tyrol ( Austria ). It lies on the municipal boundary between Virgen and Matrei in East Tyrol .

location

The Bretterspitze is a sharp rocky summit between the southern Göriacher Röte in the northwest and the Knorre ( 2995  m above sea level ) in the southeast, whereby the Bretterspitze from the Knorre and the shortly thereafter peaks of the Kristallspitz and the Ochsenbug through the Mellitzscharte ( 2900  m above sea level A. ) is separated. The southern ridge of the Bretterspitze slopes down to the Vorderen Misenokt ( 2865  m above sea level ) and on to the Pegömlspitze ( 2726  m above sea level ). The Frosnitz valley runs north of the Bretterspitze, and in the south the Mellitzbach rises in the trough between Pegömlspitze, Bretterspitze and Ochsenbug , which drops into the Virgental valley to the south. To the west of the Mellitzbach in the trough between the Zintzachspitze, Bretterspitze and Pegömlspitze lies the Firschnitztal.

Promotion opportunities

The normal route to the Bretterspitze runs without a hut base, starting from the hamlet of Marin and into the Firschnitztal valley. Then you climb over a gully on the west side and finally over the south ridge ( III ). There is also an ascent over the west ridge with partially exposed climbing ( II ).
