Louis Oberwalder

Louis Oberwalder ( June 1, 1922 in Virgen , Tyrol - June 15, 2010 in Mils bei Hall ) was an Austrian teacher , adult educator and publicist .

Life

After training as a high school professor, Louis Oberwalder taught at the Lienz high school from 1954 to 1966 and also worked as a youth advisor for the Austrian Alpine Association. During this time the Pepi-Stiegler -Heims was founded and built on the Zettersfeld above Lienz. From 1966 to 1970 he headed the adult education institute (BIfEB) in Strobl before he was appointed public education advisor for Tyrol in Innsbruck in 1970. This federal institution was renamed in 1975 to the federal funding agency for adult education for Tyrol. Louis Oberwalder was involved in founding a research center for adult education at the University of Innsbruck and was anchored there with teaching assignments. At the same time, Louis Oberwalder was first chairman of the Austrian Alpine Club, during which time the negotiations for the installation of the Hohe Tauern National Park and the establishment of the Rudolfshütte Alpine Center took place .
