location
The Mittereggspitze is located in the west of the Frosnitzkamm in the middle of the Virger Nordkette in the core zone of the Hohe Tauern National Park . In the north is the Malfrosnitztal , in the south the Virgental . The Mittereggspitze forms a wide north face to the Galtenboden, the west ridge extends to the Galtenkogel ( 2986 m above sea level ). The northeast ridge runs to the northern Göriacher Röte ( 3011 m above sea level ), with both peaks separated by the Frischnitzscharte ( 2763 m above sea level ). The depth Schärtle ( 2799 m above sea level ) in turn separates the Mittereggspitze on the south ridge from the Zinizachspitze ( 2755 m above sea level ). The east face of the Mittereggspitze to the Frischnitzkar lies between the south ridge and the north-east ridge, and there is also the south-west face to the Ödkar between the south and west ridge.
Promotion opportunities
The normal route to the Mittereggspitze leads from the Bonn-Matreier Hütte first on the marked path to the east into the Kälberscharte, then the entry takes place over the Ledraunboden down to the Ödkar and then to the foot of the southwest face. At Schrofen up, the southwest face is then climbed to the south ridge, which leads to the summit via a pre-summit. Shortly before reaching the summit, the last ridges are bypassed to the east ( II + ).
