The Gschlößkamm (rarely referred to as the Löbbenkamm ) is a mountain ridge of the Venediger group in East Tyrol . The highest peak of the Gschlößkamm is the Kristallwand ( 3310  m above sea level ). The Gschlößkamm owes its name to the northern Gschlößbach or Gschlößtal .

location

The Gschlößkamm lies in the east of the Venediger group. It is bordered in the north by the Gschlößbach, in the east by the Tauernbach and in the south by the Frosnitzbach . The Gschlößkamm begins in the west with the Kristallwand, whereby the mountain ridge here adjoins the so-called high glacier roof. To the north of the Gschlößkamm lies the Tauern main ridge , southwest of the Wallhorn ridge and south of the Frosnitz ridge .

Starting from the Kristallwand, the Gschlößkamm first runs over the Löbbenkopf and Löbbentörl as well as the Inner and Outer Knorrkogel to the Wildenkogel . Here the Gschlößkamm begins to fan out, with the northeast ridge leading to the Inner or Outer Plattenkogel. The south ridge, on the other hand, runs to the Schnitzkogel, which is separated from the Wildenkogel by the Wildenkogelscharte. From the Schnitzkogel, another ridge branches off to the east or northeast to the Schildkogel as well as the Törleskogel and the Spitzkogel. This frames the Wildensee and the Löbbensee . The main ridge, on the other hand, continues south after the flat Schnitzkogelscharte. Here, the Dabernitzkogel and Dabernitzturm are followed by the Dabernitzturmscharte and Hintere Michbachspitze. At the Hinteren Michlbachspitze the Gschlößkamm divides again, whereby the south ridge after the Vorderen Michlbachspitze, the Dabernitzhöhe and the Steinernen Mandl runs out over a grass slope to the Froßnitztal. In the east ridge, the Michlbachscharte separates the Hintere Michlbachspitze from the Raneburger Spitze, from which an east and south ridge runs towards the Tauern valley. On the east ridge of the Raneburgkogel are the Ohrkogel, Zoagerle and the Stallkogel, on the south ridge the Katalspitze, the Stanzlegg, the Strichwandkogel, the Strichwand and the Auf'm Wandl. The south and east ridge enclose Lake Raneburg.

On the north side of the Gschlößkamm there are several small glaciers, while parts of the mighty Schlatenkees extend in the area of the Kristallwand and the Löbbenkopf . Between the Inner and the Outer Knorrkogel lies the Karleskees, between the Outer Knorrkogel and the Wildensee the Knorrkees. In addition, the remains of the Wildenkees still exist between the Wildenkogel and the Schnitzkogel and the Dabernitzkees between the Dabernitzkogel and the Raneburger Spitze.

tourism

The peaks of the Gschlößkamm are hardly developed for tourism and are therefore rarely climbed. Only the Wildenkogel can be reached from the Matreier Tauernhaus via a marked hiking trail, the Wildenkogelweg. However, several hiking trails lead through the area. From the north, starting from the Gschlößbach, the Venediger Höhenweg crosses the Löbbentörl via an educational glacier trail , where it meets the Wildenkogel, which runs over the Schnitzkogelscharte, to the south. The Venediger Höhenweg then continues south to the Badener Hütte , where a marked trail leads over the southeast ridge to the Kristallwand.
