The Schnitzkogel ( 2911 m above sea level ) is a mountain peak in the Gschlößkamm of the Venediger group in the north of East Tyrol (municipality of Matrei in East Tyrol ).
Location and promotion opportunities
The Schnitzkogel is located in the east of the Gschlößkamm between the Wildenkogel ( 3021 m above sea level ) in the north and the Schildkogel ( 2826 m above sea level ) in the east. The Schnitzkogel is separated from the Wildenkogel by the Wildenkogelscharte ( 2864 m above sea level ), in the southeast lies the flat Schildkogelscharte ( 2786 m above sea level ), from which the east ridge to the Schnildkogel and the south ridge to the Dabernitzkogel ( 2969 m above sea level) . ) runs. To the east of the Schnitzkogel lies the Wildenkees with a small glacial lake, and further east the Wildensee.
The Schnitzkogel is an insignificant alpine crest. It can be reached from the Wildenkogelscharte after a short ascent. The Wildenkogelscharte itself can be reached from the Matreier Tauernhaus via the Wildenkogelweg or from the Badener Hütte .
