Wells Fargo Plaza is the name of the second tallest skyscraper in the city of Houston (after the 305 meter tall JPMorgan Chase Tower ). It is currently the 24th tallest building in the United States . The 302 meter high skyscraper was designed by the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill and built between 1979 and 1983.
Since it was initially owned by Allied Bank , it was first known as Allied Bank Plaza , when it was taken over by First Interstate Bank , the name changed to First Interstate Bank Plaza , which in turn merged with Wells Fargo , giving the complex its own today's name.
