Wenche Lowzow

Wenche Bryn Lowzow (born May 27, 1926 in Oslo , † September 24, 2016 in Geilo ) was a Norwegian politician of the Høyre .

Life

Wenche Lowzow from the Norwegian branch of those von Lowtzow grew up in Oslo. After graduating from school in 1945, she continued to attend a trade school. She then studied social pedagogy and English at the University of Education in Oslo until 1954 and then completed a teaching degree at Hamar Lærerskole (Hamar Teachers' School). Lowzow worked from 1958 to 1969 in Oslo as a teacher at the Lakkegata skole (Lakkegata School) and from 1969 to 1977 as principal at the Trosterud School. She got involved in the Norwegian teachers' association, later she worked for the Oslo school board. In 1967 she became a member of the Oslo City Council, where she worked until 1975 and most recently as chairman. Wenche Lowzow was from 1977 to 1985 as an elected member of the Høyre im Storting for Oslo . Because of the outcome of their lesbian relationship, she caused a lot of resentment among the Norwegian conservatives. As a result, she was largely isolated from her party friends and no longer nominated by her party. As a result, she lost her seat in Storting. As an LGBT activist, she was involved in Oslo. She was partnered with the Norwegian author Kim Friele . In 1993 Lowzow and Friele were among the first Norwegian same-sex couples to officially register a civil partnership.

Lowzow died in Geilo after a long illness.
