Werda is a town in the Kgalagadi District in Botswana . It is located about 140 km northeast of the district capital Tshabong and 270 km southwest of the Botswana capital Gaborone . In the south it borders on the Republic of South Africa .

In 2011 Werda had 3,261 inhabitants, ten years earlier there were 1961 inhabitants.

In Werda there is the Hilde Westermeyer Women's League Conference Center, a conference center that was financially made possible by the Simmern-Trarbach church district and the two women's aid associations in its area. The Simmern-Trarbach parish maintains a partnership with the south-western parish of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Botswana (ELCB), in which Werda is located. This goes back to the work of the Kang-Hukuntsi Mission of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Republic of Namibia , which began in southwest Botswana in the 1970s and was supported by the United Evangelical Mission , the former Rhenish Mission Society .
