Werner Bautz

Werner Bautz (born April 12, 1949 in Ansbach ; † December 18, 2008 in Erlangen ) was a German physician .

Life

Bautz studied medicine at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen and then does his military service. In 1976 he received his doctorate from the University of Tübingen with a dissertation on "Anaerobic serum ultrafiltration - a method of differentiation of Ca and Mg in the serum fractions" Dr. med. He then trained as a doctor for radiology at the Radiation Institute of the University of Tübingen. In 1988 , Bautz completed his habilitation and received the license to teach radiology. From 1990 to 1996 he was the senior physician in charge at the Institute for X-ray Diagnostics at the Klinikum rechts der Isar . In 1996 he became the chair of diagnostic radiology and head of the Radiological Institute at the University Hospital Erlangen . On October 1, 2006, Bautz was appointed as the successor to Rolf Sauer as medical director at the University Hospital Erlangen. In December 2008 he died of heart failure in his office.

His scientific work focused on the use of new magnetic resonance and computed tomography techniques, possibilities for reducing the radiation dose in X-ray diagnostics and the use of radiological technology in medical interventions.
