Brändle's scientific contributions are determined by the conversation between theology, literary studies and philosophy. The award of the honorary doctorate to Martin Walser by the University of Hildesheim , as well as the speeches for Walser's 70th birthday and the lecture series were based on Brändle's initiative. Trinity theological perspectives are characteristic and determining for his numerous theological and religious education publications, which are also brought to bear with a view to a Christian answer to the theodicy problem.
