Eckhard Lessing

Eckhard Lessing (born March 14, 1935 in Chemnitz ; † February 6, 2020 in Münster ) was a German Protestant theologian .

Life

Lessing was born in Chemnitz in 1935. He attended the Thomas School in Leipzig and graduated from high school in 1952. From 1953 to 1958 he studied theology at the Church of Bethel University , Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen and Georg-August University of Göttingen . In 1958 he completed his first and in 1963 his second state examination in theology . From 1960 to 1961 he worked as a research assistant in Göttingen. In 1961 he graduated as Dr. theol. From 1963 to 1969 he was an assistant at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . His habilitation followed in 1969. From 1969 to 1976 he worked as a university lecturer in Mainz. In 1976 he was appointed full professor for systematic theology at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster and retired in 2000.
